Carter's Mountain

Our digital photography class took a field trip to Carter's Mountain. The class' assignments were to take pictures to bring back to class so we could edit, change, and create new pictures. We were to change two from color to black and white, two to "color correct", and one to experiment on. The first five that are posted from the bottom up, are the originals, the favorites out of the many that I took. Starting at the second "Granny Smith" sign is where the edits start. Along with changing the color, we also had to include some sort of text layer. To do this, we had to make it flow with the picture, which is rather difficult. The "granny smith" sign, I changed the hue and made the greens more pronounced and increased the contrast between the shadows and the sunlight. The picture containing the apples and the lone pumpkin, I color corrected and enhanced the orange hues. I dulled the the reds to help the pumpkin stand out more. The next picture, with the framing of the skyline, was taken from an old abandoned house on the mountain. To make it black and white, I desaturated the complete picture and increased the contrast levels. The next picture, of the "Exit" sign was desaturated also then added a text layer. The next picture, was to show the contrast between the sky and the leaves. I enhanced the leaf color and "color replaced" one of the focal point group of leaves.

Pop Art

In order to create this "pop art" picture, I "burned" and "dodged" this picture to outline the darker areas and lighten some areas. To get the different colors and patterns I had to create a new layer for every color. To get the pattern I entered the "ben day" dots. I followed Roy Lichtenstine's work.

Crazy Combos

The class' second project was to create a "Crazy Combo". I chose my favorite animated character from "Horton Hears a Who" and put it in a scenic photo. The mountain and the sunset created diversity, the moon was an example of the night coming early.

Post Card

My first Project was a post card, we were supposed to create a background layer, then use three cutouts. I chose Camp Grier, located in North Carolina. I chose this camp because I met my best friend there, and had the best summer week of my life.
